According to the statistics, the county jail average daily population in Florida increased over 11 percent during the reporting period. While authorized Department of Corrections rated capacity increased over 30 percent, 18 jails in the State are cited in Federal lawsuits and 14 jails are named in State actions. The first section of this report presents annual percentages for 1991 and descriptive jail information for each of the 3 years in which the Department gathered data on Florida's county jails. The second half outlines trends in county jail inmate population statistics on a Statewide basis. 8 tables and 10 figures
