This report provides an inmate profile summary for Florida county detention facilities for November 1992.
Abstract
The average daily population figures for the reporting period include 34,316 adult males, comprising over 87 percent of the prison population, 3,459 adult females (10.1 percent), and 835 juvenile offenders (2.5 percent). Over 71 percent of the total inmate population were convicted for felony offenses. Offenders being held for trial represented 55 percent of the inmate population, 26.2 percent were serving sentences for felony or misdemeanor convictions, 7.7 percent were detained for parole violations, and the remaining 9.2 percent included those detained under mental health and alcoholism statutes, undocumented aliens, and offenders from other jurisdictions. During this period, the statewide county detention incarceration rate was 2.5 per 1,000 county residents; 13 of the 67 Florida counties had average daily inmate populations which exceeded their Department of Corrections-rated capacity. 4 tables and 3 figures
