Abstract
This annual report provides statistical as well as other information concerning the efforts of the Onondaga County, New York Probation Department. Accomplishments by the department include completion of Total Quality Management training by over 80 percent of the staff and implementation of the Youthful Offender Program targeted at persons 16, 17 or 18 years of age at the time of arrest with documented histories of substance abuse. Statistics indicate that the number of violations of probation filed in 1994 increased 8.5 percent over the number filed in 1993; the Criminal Court probation population tends to be unemployed, white males; and an increase in investigations ordered by Criminal and Family Court of 8.2 percent over 1993. Special programs described include the Conditional Release Program, the Intensive Supervision Program, the Electronic Home Confinement Program, the Day Reporting Program, and the Brick House and Rescue Mission alternatives to incarceration. Plans and programs for 1995 are listed.
