This research note reanalyzes data on court unification, published several years ago in the Journal.
Abstract
Through the use of factor analysis, the note suggests that state court unification is not a unidimensional concept and that there are, in fact, three separate dimensions of unification - consolidated court structure, centralized rule making and centralized management. Whether or not a state court system is to be considered 'unified' depends in part on which particular index, or indices, of unification are applied. (Author abstract)
