This report presents data indicating crime rates and trends and statistics concerning specific crimes that occurred in Alaska in 1980.
Abstract
The major source of data used to measure the trends and distribution of crime in Alaska is the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. Under this program, data are collected by law enforcement agencies as crimes are reported. The report contains tables, graphs, and pie charts that supplement the text in the presentation of data relating to a crime analysis of Alaska's urban cities, crime rates and trends, and the specific offenses of criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Data are also given for property stolen and recovered, Part II crimes, arson, apprehension, drug and alcohol-related arrests, and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted. Tables present statistics concerning the yearly return of offenses known to the police; property by type and value; property stolen by class; and arrests by age, race, and sex for various localities in the State. Footnotes are included.
