The text presents both the concepts involved in crime analysis and practical instructions for determining crime patterns, forecasting crimes, and developing the processes necessary to provide a variety of support services to patrol and investigative personnel. Other chapters discuss the use of volunteers in crime analysis programs, the development of programs to manage patrol operations and criminal investigations, automation issues, and the use of statistical methods in analyzing crime.
