These 10 papers were presented at the European Colloquium on Criminal Policy and Research in September 1996 and focus on crime trends and crime control policies in Western, Central, and Eastern Europe.
Abstract
Individual papers provide an overview of the 3-day colloquium, discuss crime trends in individual countries, and discuss the use of a controlled deviance as a crime prevention strategy in Hungary. Additional papers focus on crime policy from a Western European perspective, the role of punishment and rehabilitation in the corrections policies of the Czech Republic, and the history of organized crime in Estonia. Further papers analyze the crisis and transition in the criminal justice system of Belgium; issues related to law, morality, and restorative justice; and TRANSCRIME, the research group that focuses on transnational crime and is located in the School of Law of the University of Trento in Italy.
