Abstract
THE BROAD SUBJECT AREAS THAT THIS DOCUMENT DEALS WITH ARE TYPES OF CRIME, TYPES OF CRIMINALS, JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, THE ETIOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CRIME AND DELINQUENCY, AND THE TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY. IN GENERAL, THE AUTHORS EXAMINE THE VARIETY OF PATTERNS OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, INCLUDING THE RECENTLY EXPOSED FORMS OF POLITICAL AND BUSINESS CRIME. THEY ANALYZE THE PUBLIC AND JUDICIAL RESPONSE TO CRIME POSED BY ISSUES SUCH AS - ONE TYPE OF ACTIVITY IS LABELLED CRIMINAL WHILE ANOTHER MORE SOCIALLY DESTRUCTIVE ACTIVITY IS LAWFUL, SOME LOW SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS (SES) OFFENDERS ARE GIVEN LONG SENTENCES WHILE HIGH SES OFFENDERS SOMETIMES RECEIVE LITTLE OR NO PUNISHMENT.
