BRIEF REVIEW OF EUROPEAN RESEARCH FROM 1963 TO 1970, DESCRIBING THE CURRENT STATE OF RESEARCH AND THE TOPICS UPON WHICH IT IS FOCUSED.
Abstract
THE REVIEW SHOWS THAT, BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF STUDIES IN THE NETHERLANDS AND SCANDINAVIA), EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS ARE BEHIND THEIR AMERICAN COLLEAGUES IN THE USE OF RIGOROUS SCIENTIFIC METHODS. THE STRENGTH OF THEIR RESEARCH LIES IN CLINICAL, LEGAL, AND HISTORICAL STUDIES, AND THEIR LITERATURE IS A RICH SOURCE OF MATERIALS ON THE RARE OR UNUSUAL TYPE OF OFFENDER, THE UNUSUAL CRIME CAUSE OR MOTIVATION, AND UNUSUAL OFFENDER TREATMENT. THERE ARE EXTENSIVE REFERENCES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT).
