This anthology includes papers presenting hypotheses to be investigated in a large Swedish research experiment, the Stockholm Project, exploring the link between the urban environment and crime.
Abstract
The anthology begins with a look at the structure of urban life and its relationship to social control and crime. Next is a paper presenting baseline data for the Stockholm Project, followed by presentations on various topics to be explored within the Project. Two papers look at the family and school and their influence on development and variations in juvenile deviance in different types of home environments. Two more deal with a feminist perspective of crime in an urban environment and also consider criminality among immigrant youth. The anthology ends with two papers that examine the socialist system of government and the police and their influence on criminality and crime prevention.
