Extensive tables are presented on crime in Arizona during 1979, with emphasis on Part I Index crimes.
Abstract
The tables are based on data collected through the State's Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Following a description of the reporting system, the volume presents a summary of State crime data, an analysis of Part I Index crimes by category, and arrest data for Part I and Part II crimes. Subsequent chapters present data on the numbers and types of law enforcement personnel employed in each county and an analysis of assaults on police officers during the year. During the year, 192,023 Index offenses were reported, of which 19 percent were cleared. There were 121,927 persons arrested for crimes, and 1 police officer was killed in 1979. Appendixes present maps, a glossary, a flow chart, and State statutory provisions which apply to the Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
