A REPORT DISCUSSING ARIZONA'S CRIME CHARACTERISTICS; STATEWIDE DATA ON CRIME, CRIME RATES, AND ARRESTS; ORGANIZED CRIME; AND SPECIFIC PROBLEMS FOUND IN EACH OF THE STATE'S PLANNING REGIONS, IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
ARIZONA'S MAJOR CRIME PROBLEMS WERE FOUND TO BE PROPERTY OFFENSES, FOR WHICH PERSONS UNDER 18 ARE MOST OFTEN ARRESTED; VIOLENT CRIMES, COMMITTED LARGELY BY ADULTS; AND ORGANIZED CRIME. AN ADDITIONAL FINDING IS THAT ARIZONANS HAVE A HIGH LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE IN THEIR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. THE REPORT IS A COMPILATION AND ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION DRAWN FROM THE UNIFORM CRIME REPORTS, ARIZONA CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROFESSIONALS, DATA AND REPORTS ON CRIME AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROBLEMS, SOCIOECONOMIC PROFILES, PUBLIC OPINION POLLS, AND NEWSPAPER ARTICLES AND EDITORIALS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED).
