A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF CRIME OCCURRENCE IN THREE RURAL COUNTIES OF OREGON.
Abstract
SERIOUS CRIMES - FELONIES - WERE ENCOUNTERED ONLY INFREQUENTLY. THE CRIMINALITY THAT WAS ENCOUNTERED APPEARED TO BE TRANSITORY IN CHARACTER, CARRIED ON BY PERSONS WHO VIEWED THEMSELVES AS LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS. THE VOLUME OF PETTY LAWBREAKING WAS QUITE SIZEABLE, WITH THE MAJORITY OF CASES INVOLVING TRAFFIC AND HIGHWAY OFFENSES. (MODIFIED AUTHOR ABSTRACT).
