This 1992 report on crime in Kansas is based on statistical information supplied by 350 local and State law enforcement agencies.
Abstract
The data show that overall, crime index offenses decreased in Kansas by 2.3 percent in 1992, although violent crime rose by 4.1 percent. Specifically, rates of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, and robbery decreased, while rates of aggravated and simple assault and battery increased. Property crimes, including burglary, motor vehicle theft, and theft, fell by 3.0 percent during the reporting period. Criminal damage to property in the State totaled over 6.3 million. The State Fire Marshal's Office reported that incendiary and suspicious fires decreased 21 percent. Total arrests numbered 148,157 in 1992, an increase of 9.9 percent from the previous year. Juveniles were arrested most often for theft, and adults were arrested most often for driving under the influence. Assaults on police officers rose nearly 12 percent. 1 appendix
