Missouri’s Uniform Crime Reports for 2006 provides data on the State’s crime problems and the law enforcement actions being taken to address them.
Abstract
The Index offenses addressed in this report are murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The first four offenses compose the Violent Crime Index, and the last four constitute the Property Crime Index. In 2006, 256,529 Crime Index offenses were reported in the State. One Index Crime was committed every 2.0 minutes. For 21.1 of every 100 Crime Index offenses, the cases were cleared by arrest or exceptional means. Violent offenses constituted 12.4 percent of the total 2006 Missouri Crime Index. There were 31,801 violent Index offenses reported in 2006. Property offenses composed 87.6 percent of the total 2006 Missouri Crime Index; 224,728 Property Index offenses were reported in 2006, and they accounted for $312,644,213 in property stolen or destroyed. In addition to Crime Index offense and arrest data, this publication contains data on domestic-violence incidents, officers killed or assaulted in the line of duty, and law enforcement employment levels in Missouri.
