Abstract
FOLLOWING THE INTRODUCTION COMMENTS ARE MADE ON THE PROBLEM OF CRIME. A DISCUSSION OF STRATEGIES FOR CRIME PREVENTION COVER THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROBLEM, CRIMINALIZATION AND DECRIMINALIZATION, SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE, URBANIZATION, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SOCIAL CHANGE AND CRIME. TOPICS COVERED UNDER PRIORITY AREAS FOR ACTION INCLUDE THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK, BROADENING OF SOCIAL DEFENCE PLANNING, LEGISLATION, THE POLICE SYSTEM, INSTITUTIONAL TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS, AND NEW AND SPECIAL PROBLEMS. THE ROLE OF THE UNITED NATIONS IS THEN DISCUSSED.
