Abstract
The suggested family strategy for helping reduce opportunities for crime victimization of the family and its members consists of conducting a family council on crime, during which each member is made aware of his/her particular vulnerabilities to various types of crime and how to take precautions against each type. Each family member should also be assigned certain responsibilities for ensuring that other family members, as well as the family's residence and property, are safe from criminal threat. Crime resistance tips are offered to counter home burglaries, offenses against children, bicycle theft, crimes while traveling or parked in a vehicle, auto theft, con schemes, credit card theft, boat and boat equipment theft, purse snatching, and crimes against pedestrians. The tips are practical and simple to implement. A crime resistance quiz for kids concludes the presentation.
