A SURVEY OF CURRENT LITERATURE, RESEARCH AND STATISTICS ON THE CRIME OF ROBBERY, ITS PERPETRATORS AND PREVENTION.
Abstract
THE PROBLEM OF COMPILING AND ANALZING USEFUL STATISTICAL DATA ON ROBBERIES IS DISCUSSED. THIS PROBLEM ARISES BECAUSE POLICE DEPARTMENTS ACROSS THE NATION USE DIFFERENT CRITERIA FOR DISTINGUISHING ROBBERY FROM LARCENY. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS FOCUSED ON STUDIES DISCLOSING THE YOUTHFUL NATURE OF THE ROBBER AND HIS TENDENCY TO WORK WITH ACCOMPLICES. THE FINDINGS OF STUDIES ON THE ROLE OF FIREARMS, ALCOHOL, NARCOTICS, AND DANGEROUS DRUGS IN ROBBERIES ARE OUTLINED. SUGGESTIONS ARE OFFERED FOR FURTHER RESEARCH ON THE CRIME AND MEASURES TO PREVENT IT. BIBLIOGRAPHY.
