Abstract
The text discusses equipment, sketching and photography, and reporting at the scene of the crime. It also covers latent fingerprint processing, other impressions, death investigation, dental evidence and teethmarks, and document examination. Firearms, toolmarks, blood and body fluids, drugs, hair and fibers, traces of arson, paint, glass, and soil and rock evidence are also discussed. Many chapters explain the evidentiary potential of specific materials and how to collect them. Guidelines for submitting evidence to the laboratory, the role of forensic scientists, and polygraph examination are discussed. Tables, diagrams, photographs, and a 20-item bibliography are included. Appendixes include a list of laboratory services available in Illinois, report forms, a reading guide, and packaging and submission recommendations.
