This report presents statistics on offenses reported to the police in Norway in 1994, as well as offenses investigated that year and data from previous years.
Abstract
Some 352,000 offenses were reported in 1994. These included 250,000 crimes and 102,000 misdemeanors. Larcenies accounted for 68 percent of al reported crimes. The 171,000 theft reports included 71,000 involving simple larceny, 79,000 involving grand larceny, and 21,000 involving auto theft. Sixteen thousand cases of property damage, 15,000 drug-related crimes, 11,900 violent crimes, and 2,181 sex offenses were also reported. The misdemeanors included 50,000 traffic violations, including 8,360 cases of driving under the influence. Figures and tables
