Crime rates for Dade County, Fla., between 1979-1985 were examined, using Uniform Crime Report and victimization data.
Abstract
Statistics indicate that during this period, Part I Index crimes increased by 42.7 percent, violent crimes by 45.1 percent, and Part I property crimes by 42.2 percent. While there was a slight decline in violent crime rates between 1980-1985, 1985 property crime rates reached the highest level ever. Percentage increases were greatest for motor vehicle theft, robbery, and larceny, and less for aggravated assault, homicide, rape, and burglary. Extensive graphs and tables. (Author abstract modified)
