This 2011 Annual Report for the Crime Victim Services Division (CVSD) of the Texas Office of the Attorney General (OAG) presents data and information on CVSD's work in assisting in "the compassionate and effective delivery of crime victim services by offering information, resources, and education to crime victims and the organizations that assist them."
Abstract
Following a brief history of the CVSD and State legislation pertinent to its creation and ongoing work, this report reviews its revenue sources, which include a percentage of court costs paid by convicted offenders, a grant under the Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), offender restitution payments, donations, and subrogation for the return of State funds if a victim obtains money in a civil suit. Expenditures for the fiscal year ending in August 31, 2011, are reported. An overview of the CVSD's program encompasses eligibility requirements, the types of victimization costs covered, and application procedures. The number and types of applications received for fiscal year 2011 are reported, as well as the types of crimes involved. Data on the age and gender of applicants are provided as well. Payments to victims are reported by types of crime. Summary statements by county address the number of applications received, approved, and denied. Extensive tables and figures
