This booklet is intended to provide crime victims and their families with information about their rights in Connecticut, the options they have, and the resources available to aid in their recovery from the effects of crime.
Abstract
The text explains that crime victims in Connecticut have the right to obtain certain information from the criminal justice system and the right to be treated in a humane way by the system and that most requests for information should be made in writing. Other sections explain the structure of the criminal justice system and the steps involved in processing a case. Agencies and services available to crime victims and the role of Victim Advocate Program of the Connecticut Commission on Victim Services are also explained. Further section detail issues, actions, and options related to domestic violence and sexual assault. Map and lists of agency telephone numbers are included.
