Abstract
The legislature appropriated $661,000 out of the general revenue fund for the administration of the Minnesota Crime Victims Reparations Board. A total of 383 claims were filed, up from 366 in 1983; 391 claims were paid, 194 were denied, and 104 are are pending. The average length of time required to finalize a claim was 8.14 months, up from 8.125 months in 1983. Increases occurred in the claims filed for assault, sexual assault, and personal property crimes; decreases occurred in claims filed for homicides and muggings. Appendixes contain the text of the law and representations of claims paid and denied; five graphs illustrate claims received and awarded and weapons used.
