This report monitors the implementation of the Victoria (Australia) Crimes (Family Violence) Act in the period 1990-1991.
Abstract
The graphs and tables contained in the report depict the relationship of the aggrieved family member to the defendant and the elapsed time between various steps in the criminal justice process including, inter alia, the date of issue and the final hearing. Two tables compare complaints laid by aggrieved family members in children's courts and magistrates' courts as well as the age and gender of complainant and defendant. A section of the report deals with final intervention orders issued under this legislation. The report covers whether the defendant was present at the final hearing, whether there were previous Family Law Act or Crimes (Family Violence) Act applications, and the incidence of breaches of final intervention orders.
