Abstract
THE PROBLEMS OF MEASUREMENT OF COURT PERFORMANCE ARE DESCRIBED, AND OBJECTIVE DATA ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF COURT OPERATION ARE ANALYZED. THE POSSIBLE USEFULNESS OF AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION MINIMUM STANDARDS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ARE EXPLORED. DATA WERE COLLECTED ON CASELOAD, SENTENCING, ELAPSED TIME FROM ARREST TO COURT DISPOSITION, DAILY DOCKETS, AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BAIL SYSTEM. THE REPORT INCLUDES AN EVALUATION OF A RECENT EFFORT TO IMPROVE JUVENILE COURT PERFORMANCE THROUGH PROCEDURAL CHANGE.
