THE STATE CONTROLLED BERLIN POLICE WERE MUCH MORE PERVASIVE IN THEIR ROLE AS AGENTS OF SOCIAL CONTROL THAN POLICE IN THIS COUNTRY. THE AUTHOR GOES ON TO DISCUSS THEIR CRIME DETECTION CAPABILITIES AND ORGANIZATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS.
