Abstract
The skillful investigator has to be a good listener, flexible in the use of interviewing techniques, alert, a good judge of character, persistent, and have a high level of suspicion. There are five important factors in successful interrogation: (1) a commitment to success; (2) forming a bond with the suspect; (3) skillful use of interviewing techniques; (4) knowing what to look for and looking for it; and (5) recognizing deception. Preparation is a measure of commitment to success. The more that is known about the suspect and the crime, the better for the investigation outcome. 97 references, index.
