Abstract
This publication provides well-illustrated articles by lawyers, educators, researchers, and writers providing effective and useful perspectives on today’s important topics in the study of criminal justice. This publication attempts to maintain currency in matters of concern by providing up-to-date commentaries, articles, reports, and statistics from the most recent literature in the criminal justice field. This volume contains units concerning crime and justice in America, victimology, the police, the judicial system, juvenile justice, and punishment and corrections. The articles in these units were selected because they are informative as well as provocative. The selections are timely and useful in their treatment of ethics, punishment, juveniles, courts, and other related topics. Included are a number of features designed to be useful to students, researchers, and professionals in the criminal justice field. Included in the table of contents are summaries of each article, key concepts in bold italics, a topic guide for locating articles on specific subjects; a list of relevant Internet reference sites; a comprehensive section on crime statistics, and a glossary.
