Abstract
POPULATION STATISTICS INCLUDE EDUCATION, INCOME AND EMPLOYMENT, POPULATION GROWTH, RACIAL DISTRIBUTION, DISTRIBUTION OF POPULATION AMONG TOWNS AND CITIES, AND HOUSING. THE INCIDENCE OF ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE AND OF RELATED OFFENSES IS DISCUSSED, AND AGENCIES PROVIDING DRUG AND/OR ALCOHOLISM SERVICES ARE IDENTIFIED. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN THE REGION ARE DESCRIBED, AND STATISTICS ON MENTAL RETARDATION, SUICIDE, AND HOMICIDE ARE PRESENTED. TABULAR DATA ON INDEX CRIMES IN THE REGION FOR 1975 ARE PRESENTED AND ANALYZED, TOGETHER WITH DATA SHOWING TRENDS IN SPECIFIC CRIMES FOR 1973-75. DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF THE REGION'S POLICE, COURTS, AND CORRECTIONS RESOURCES ARE ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING TABULAR DATA ON PERSONNEL, SALARIES, WORKLOADS, AND BUDGETS. MAPS SHOWING THE DISTRIBUTION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM RESOURCES THROUGHOUT THE REGION ARE INCLUDED.
