Abstract
THE ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MAJOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES - THE POLICE, JUDICIARY, PROSECUTION, AND CORRECTIONS - ARE OUTLINED. THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE PROCESS IS TRACED FROM ARREST THROUGH APPEAL. TREATMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR OFFENDERS IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS ARE DESCRIBED, AS WELL AS REHABILITATION SERVICES FOR PROBATIONERS AND PAROLEES. STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED ON JAPANESE CRIME AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PERSONNEL.
