Abstract
A NARRATIVE WHICH BEGINS WITH THE INCIDENCE OF CRIME IN CONNECTICUT AND THEN FOLLOWS THE FLOW OF AN OFFENDER THROUGH THE SYSTEM MAKING NOTE OF VARIOUS ALTERNATIVES FOR CHANNELING THE OFFENDER OUT OF THE SYSTEM AT MAJOR STAGES IN THE FLOW SCHEME. SEPARATE ATTENTION IS GIVEN IN THE NARRATIVE TO ADULT AND JUVENILE CRIMINAL PROCESSES. APPENDIXES PROVIDE DETAILED INFORMATION ON STATE AND MUNICIPAL POLICE, THE JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT, JUVENILE COURT, AND THE DEPARTMENTS OF CORRECTION, ADULT PROBATION, AND CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES. EACH APPENDIX IS ORGANIZED TO SHOW STATUTORY AUTHORITY AND JURISDICTION, ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE, BUDGET, PERSONNEL/SALARY RANGE, SPECIAL PROGRAMS, AND CASELOADS.
