PRESENTS THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CRIMINAL LAW AND CRIMINAL COURT PROCEDURE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENHANCING THE EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
Abstract
PRESENTED ARE THE PROCEDURE BETWEEN ARREST AND TRIAL, THE TRIAL PROCESS, PROBATION, PAROLE, POST-CONVICTION REMEDIES, AND APPEALS BY THE PROSECUTOR. CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON AND PROPERTY ARE OUTLINED, TOGETHER WITH OFFENSES CONSIDERED TO AFFECT PUBLIC MORALS, HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE. INTERFERENCE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL PROCESSES IS DISCUSSED, AND UNCOMPLETED CRIMINAL CONDUCT AND CRIMINAL COMBINATIONS ARE TREATED. INLCUDED ARE MAJOR SECTIONS ON THE LEGAL RULES GOVERNING POLICE PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES AND THE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LIABILITY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
