Abstract
Individual papers describe innovative ways to use expert witnesses, the use of character evidence, the legal distinction between active and passive euthanasia, and problems that prevent adequate legal representation for indigent and poor defendants. Other papers suggest ways that defense attorneys can work within the Federal sentencing guidelines to show extenuating circumstances, methods of preserving the trial record for appeal, and the defense of people accused of drunk driving. Further papers discuss the definitions of sexual and racial harassment, the use of State common law to protect Federal constitutional rights, and liability issues related to food contaminated with dangerous bacteria or shards of bone.
