Abstract
THE SCOPE OF THE COURSE/TEXT ENCOMPASSES THE CLIENTATTORNEY RELATIONSHIP IN CRIMINAL CASES, THE POSTARREST PERIOD, PRETRIAL ACTIONS, THE TRIAL, THE POSTCONVICTION PERIOD, JUVENILE COURT PROCEEDINGS, AND PRISONERS' RIGHTS. THE INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL OPENS WITH A COURSE OUTLINE-COURSE DESCRIPTION, GOALS, SCOPE, INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS, STUDENT EVALUATION METHODS. SUGGESTIONS FOR USING THE TEXT'S CASE BRIEFS TO ENHANCE STUDENT UNDERSTANDING OF TEXT MATERIALS ARE OFFERED. SEVEN LESSON-PLANNING SEGMENTS, EACH COVERING ONE TO THREE CHAPTERS FROM THE TEXT, DEFINE COURSE OBJECTIVES, ELABORATE ON TEXT MATERIAL, AND SERVE AS LECTURE OUTLINES. EACH SEGMENT INCLUDES SUGGESTED REVIEW QUESTIONS. WAYS OF INTEGRATING THE FEDERAL RULES OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE WITH TEXT MATERIAL ARE NOTED. GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING EXAMINATION QUESTIONS ARE OFFERED. A CASE PROJECT--FACTS IN A ROBBERY-MURDER CASE AND QUESTIONS TO STRUCTURE A REPORT ON THE CASE--IS PRESENTED AS A POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO A TERM PAPER. (LKM)
