This publication explains the principal duties of a court clerk in criminal procedures for tribal court clerks within the American Indian court system.

Abstract

Criminal procedures during the prearraignment, arraignment, pretrial conference, trial, and post trial phases of the process are explained. Terms are defined, and sample forms are included. For example, the explanation of prearraignment procedures presents definitions of a complaint, the docket, the summons, the subpoena, and the three types of warrants (bench, search and seizure, and arrest). The kinds of information which the summons, subpoena, and warrant contains are outlined.
