Crimes not reported to the police as well as those reported are included. Statistics on victims, offenders, crime characteristics, and police reporting are provided. The data are from a representative sample of some 62,000 households across the country, collected at 6-month intervals. The following crimes are examined: the personal crimes of rape, robbery, assault, and personal larceny and the property crimes of residential burglary, household larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Selected findings from 103 statistical tables are presented, together with charts and graphs. Methodological information and technical notes are appended to aid interpretation of survey results.
