Abstract
HALF OF THE DEFENDANTS BELIEVED THE JUDICIAL RESPONSE TO BE TOO LENIENT. THERE WAS NO CONSENSUS ON THE PROPER DEGREE OF POLICE POWER. BEING VICTIMIZED, INCREASED ONE'S CONCERN ABOUT PERSONAL SAFETY. THE QUESTIONNAIRES USED IN THE SURVEY MAY BE FOUND IN THE APPENDICES.
