RECONSTRUCTS THE GENESIS OF THE CRIME OF FOOD ADULTERATION IN THE LIGHT OF SOME PREVAILING CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORIES, AND ILLUSTRATES SOME OF ITS SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND POLITICAL CAUSES.
Abstract
IN THE SECOND PART, THE PHENOMENON OF FOOD ADULTERATION IN RECENT YEARS IN ITALY IS ANALYSED ON THE BASIS OF THE STATISTICS ELABORATED BY THE SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BODY (ANTI-SOPHISTICATION SQUAD) ENTRUSTED WITH THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF THIS TYPE OF CRIME. DATA ON ARRESTS AND SEIZURES ARE PROVIDED FOR THE PERIOD 1966-1969 ACCORDING TO GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS AND TYPES OF ADULTERATION. THE DYNAMICS OF THE PHENOMENON ARE RECONSTRUCTED THROUGH THE DESCRIPTION OF VARIOUS TYPES OF FOOD ADULTERATION AND THE ADDITIVES USED. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STRONGER CONTROL, AN INCREASED POLICE FORCE AND PREVENTION THROUGH PUBLIC SUPPORT AND AWARENESS ARE MADE IN THE CONCLUSIVE SECTION. --IN ITALIAN.
