THIS BRIEF ARTICLE REVIEWS THE PREVAILING TYPES OF CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH EMPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND THEIR RELEVANCE FOR LATIN AMERICAN SETTINGS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR IDENTIFIES FIVE PREVAILING FORMS OF RESEARCH: APPLIED; INTERDISCIPLINARY; QUANTITATIVE; EMPLOYING CONTROL GROUPS; AND, RESEARCH DIRECTED PRIMARILY TO JUVENILES. HE RECOMMENDS THE CREATION OF AN INTERNATIONAL INVENTORY OF CURRENT RESEARCH AND THE CO-ORDINATION OF CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL. FINALLY, HE CAUTIONS AGAINST REPEATING MISTAKES MADE ELSEWHERE IN IMPORTING RESEARCH TECHNIQUES THAT WERE INAPPROPRIATE TO THE PREVAILING CULTURE. --IN SPANISH
