This article presents a critique of an earlier study on ganja in Jamaica, with special attention to evidence on the harmful effects of cannabis use.
Abstract
A critical appraisal showed that the discrepancies noticed in the study were related to the methodology, and limitations in the number of subjects studied. The beneficial effects pointed out in the study of smoking cannabis were based on philosophical thinking rather than on scientific data. This had an impact on the marijuana law in Jamaica. Details of cultivation, trade, and clinical findings of its use are discussed. 22 references. (Author abstract modified)
