THIS AUDIOCASSETTE PRESENTS INTERVIEWS WITH SELF-ADMITTED RAPISTS, WHO EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS CONCERNING THEIR CRIMES.
Abstract
MOST OF THE SEX OFFENDERS INTERVIEWED IN THIS RECORDING ARE NORMAL PEOPLE WITH GOOD JOBS AND WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL LIVES, EXCEPT THAT THEY ARE RAPISTS. ONE, A MAN WHO CLAIMED TO BE AN EXPERIENCED RAPIST, EXPLAINED HOW HE RAPED 15 WOMEN. HE SEEMS TO BE PROUD OF HIS TECHNIQUE, CALMING THE WOMEN DOWN AND KEEPING THEM FROM BECOMING UPSET BEFORE HE RAPED THEM. ALTHOUGH HE EXPECTED HIS VICTIMS TO STRUGGLE, MOST WERE PASSIVE. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT HIS ATTACKS WERE MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN SEXUAL AND WERE ACTUALLY A WAY TO RELEASE HIS HATRED OF WOMEN. THOUGH HE HAD A SATISFACTORY RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS WIFE, HE ADMITTED THAT EACH OF HIS ATTACKS WAS PRECEDED BY SEXUAL FANTASIES. FINALLY, WHEN THIS MAN SOUGHT PSYCHIATRIC HELP, THE AUTHORITIES OF THE MENTAL INSTITUTION TURNED HIM IN TO THE POLICE. HE IS CLASSIFIED AS A PATTERNED SEX OFFENDER--ONE WHO REPEATS THE CRIME OVER AND OVER AGAIN, CREATING A PATTERN. INCIDENTAL SEX OFFENDERS ARE THOSE WHO COMMIT A RAPE ONLY ONCE. IF NOT TREATED FOR THEIR PROBLEM, INCIDENTAL RAPISTS WILL PROBABLY CONTINUE TO COMMIT SEXUAL CRIMES. SEX OFFENDERS CAN ALSO BE WOMEN, BUT THEIR OFFENSES ARE NOT LEGALLY CLASSIFIED AS RAPE. A FORCED HOMOSEXUAL ACT BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE IS CONSIDERED RAPE. (BAC)
