THIS ANNUAL REPORT PROVIDES A STATISTICAL SUMMARY OF ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRING WITHIN DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND PRESENTS INFORMATION ON THE ACTIVITIES AND TRAINING EFFORTS OF THE SECURITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
Abstract
FISCAL YEAR 1974-75 SAW A MAJOR CHANGE IN THE INCIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM OF DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. IN PREVIOUS YEARS THE SECURITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORTED ONLY THOSE INCIDENTS IN WHICH AN OFFICER WAS DIRECTLY INVOLVED. IN FISCAL YEAR 1974-75, ALL INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED TO THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT WHICH, IN TURN, BECAME THE DISSEMINATOR OF INFORMATION THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. THIS REPORT PROVIDES DATA TABLES ON THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS: INCIDENTS REPORTED AND DISPOSITIONS; TIME OF OCCURRENCE OF INCIDENTS; VALUE OF PROPERTY LOSS AND RECOVERY; AND AGE AND ETHNIC CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS. THE DECENTRALIZATION OF THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT IS DISCUSSED. DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES WITH RESPECT TO REFERRALS OF JUVENILE OFFENDERS, COURT ATTENDANCE, EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS, INSTALLATION OF ALARM SYSTEMS, PLANT SECURITY REPORTS, AND COLLECTION OF RESTITUTION FOR DAMAGES ARE DESCRIBED AS WELL.
