Abstract
THE COURSES ARE PART OF A LAW EDUCATION PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE LAW EDUCATION GOALS AND LEARNING (LEGAL) PROJECT OPERATED BY THE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD. THE PROJECT GOAL IS TO DEVELOP STUDENT UNDERSTANDING AND SKILLS RELATED TO THE U.S. CRIMINAL AND CIVIL (CONSUMER) JUSTICE SYSTEMS. RECOMMENDED CRIMINAL JUSTICE COURSE FIELD STUDY EXPERIENCES INCLUDE TRIPS TO A LOCAL POLICE TRAINING INSTITUTE, A JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER, A POLICE DEPARTMENT, STATE POLICE HEADQUARTERS, AND A LOCAL JAIL. CONSUMER PROTECTION COURSE FIELD TRIPS ARE TO CONSUMER PROTECTION OFFICES, THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, A LOCAL GOVERNMENT BUILDING, AND COUNTY COURTROOM AND LAWYERS' OFFICES. THE SOURCEBOOK PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW AND STUDY QUESTIONS, AND IT OUTLINES LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER EACH TRIP. ALTERNATIVE CLASSROOM EXERCISES INCLUDE SIMULATION GAMES AND DISCUSSIONS.
