REPORT GIVES FEEDBACK ON PROGRESS OF COUNTY WIDE VICTIM ADVOCATE PROGRAMS (VAP).
Abstract
THE MAJOR GOAL OF THIS VAP WAS TO PROVIDE DIRECT AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF CRIMES OF VIOLENCE. SUCH SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 434 PERSONS IN THE PERIOD UNDER STUDY, JULY 1975 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1976. THESE INCLUDED EMERGENCY SHELTER, FOOD, MEDICATION, AND CLOTHING. ALSO PROVIDED WERE SUPPORTIVE AND PARALEGAL COUNSELING, AS WELL AS TRANSPORTATION TO COURT, THE POLICE, AND TO MEDICAL SERVICES. INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 100 NON-VICTIMS REQUESTING INFORMATION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS. THIS REPORT SAYS THAT ALTHOUGH THE NUMBER OF VICTIMS SERVED WAS BELOW THE ORIGINAL GOAL FOR THE PERIOD TARGETED, THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT WITH EACH CASE AND THE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES PROVIDED WERE ABOVE WHAT HAD BEEN ANTICIPATED....BS
