Risk reduction is fundamental to any executive protection program and requires that executives actively practice the basic principles of good security.
Abstract
A low-profile, basic risk-reduction plan costs almost nothing and produces peace of mind and personal safety. The first step in an executive protection plan is to put all personal and financial documents in order. The next step is to conduct a personal vulnerability assessment. Additional measures include reviewing residential security, ensuring the security of vehicles, and taking security measures at the workplace. Executives should also prepare for the possibility of being kidnapped and should recognize the need to cooperate fully with the abductors, maintain their dignity, and try to remember as many details as possible. Taking these measures will substantially reduce the chances of victimization by terrorists or professional criminals.
