Abstract
Individual chapters explain the differences between different categories of rape, the options available to victims in finding help and trying to prosecute their assailants, the reasons that perpetrators rape, and how to prevent becoming a victim of acquaintance rape. Additional chapters explain rape trauma syndrome and how it is used in court, examine rape shield laws and related legal issues, and detail the defendant's legal rights in court. Issues related to campus rape and the issues that victims must address in their recovery from date rape and the phases of rape trauma syndrome are also explained. 32 references
