THIS PAMPHLET DISCUSSES AN EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM DEVELOPED SIX YEARS AGO FOR AGRESSIVE ADOLESCENTS AGES 13-19 WHO WERE UNABLE TO FUNCTION WITHIN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
Abstract
THE DAY SCHOOL HAS THREE PROGRAM COMPONENTS: THERAPY, TRADITIONAL EDUCATION, AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING. THE STAFF CONSISTS OF A PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL WORKER SERVING AS DIRECTOR, A PSYCHIATRIC NURSE, A REHABILITATION COUNSELOR, TEACHERS, AND CONSULTING PSYCHIATRISTS AND PSYCHOLOGISTS. ALTHOUGH TEACHING IS THE PRINCIPAL DISCIPLINE AMONG THE PERSONNEL, FACTORS SUCH AS THE MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING OF THE DIRECTOR AND OTHER STAFF MEMBERS, THE LOCATION ON THE GROUNDS OF A MENTAL HOSPITAL, AND THE INTENT OF THE FOUNDERS HAVE GIVEN THE PROGRAM A MENTAL HEALTH ORIENTATION. EVALUATION RESEARCH ON THE PROGRAM IS PRESENTLY UNDERWAY....RCB
