Abstract
Focusing on the issue of a need for internationalizing crime control, this article discusses the European Union’s reactions to the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City on September 11, 2001. Following a discussion of both the European Union’s and the United States’ policies on terrorism prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks, the author discusses and evaluates various reactions to the terrorist attacks themselves. The author presents his view for the future of the European Union’s policy on terrorism, arguing that the European Union’s future crime control policies need to be much more decisive than they currently are.
