This document presents the text of the decision regarding protective measures for victims and witnesses in cases before the international tribunal dealing with violations of international humanitarian law in the former Yugoslavia.
Abstract
The prosecutor submitted a motion requesting these protective measures for seven specific alleged victims or witnesses. The court reviewed the factual background of the case and acknowledged the prosecutor¦s withdrawal of the request to protect the identity of one witness. The court held that the identity of the other six specific witnesses should be protected in several specific ways. It ordered the accused, the defense counsel, and their representatives to avoid disclosing the names or identifying information to the public or the media, except in limited circumstances. It also prohibited the public and the media from photographing, video recording, or sketching the six protected witnesses which they were in the precincts of the International Tribunal.
